CHEFS

Michelle Garcia • Bleeding Heart Bakery
I suppose you could say I have a "checkered" past. I prefer to say I have lived a colorful life. My childhood was filled with trouble and mayhem, but crazy as it sounds, it made me who I am today. After many lost years of traveling, rehabilitation programs and more traveling I realized that I was searching for something I had already found: the kitchen. My education began at Kendall College back when it was still in Evanston. Once I realized pastry was really my passion I transferred to The French Pastry School. I was in heaven, never before was I so inspired to be great. Upon my return to America and a bit more traveling.and working at some of the nation's finest pastry establishments, I became pregnant. It was during this time that Bleeding Heart really came to be. I became determined to open an establishment that served the finest in organic pastries and savories (with the help of my husband) while also dishing up a heaping plate of social honesty and integrity.

Keen Designs jewelry is both delicate and modern, echoing organic shapes and featuring clean, architectural elements. Semi-precious stones and sterling silver are their prime mediums, but Adrien and Kate are awfully fond of including tiny skulls, coral branches, charms, and other little bits that strike their fancy.

Antsypants Jewelry is available at Chicago area boutiques and fine art and craft shows in the Chicago area. Abby also teaches knitting at The Needle Shop in Bucktown.
Erin Lindsay Janish
I have always fancied myself an artist; even when my canvas was a modest notebook of lined paper, my medium a 96 count box of crayons, and my workshop the front porch of my house in Royal Oak, Michigan. The uninhibited freedom of expression that came through in those small masterpieces is something I still strive to maintain. It is reflected in my artwork, whether it is handmade gifts for friends and family, the stories I tell through my clothing designs, or the whimsical hats I love to create.
Amanda Lonis
I have been interested in design since I was little. My grandmother taught me how to crochet and knit, and I got my basic sewing instruction from her as well. Designing and sewing, creating any type of clothing interests me. I don't believe that I could get along without clothes or the creation of them. That's why I hope to one day create my own line of clothing after I complete my Bachelors in Fashion Design.
